> ℹ️ # What Is A2P 10DLC Compliance?

A2P (Application-to-Person) 10DLC is a messaging standard required by mobile carriers for businesses in the US and Canada to text using local phone numbers. It ensures higher delivery rates, protects consumers from spam, and enhances your reputation as a trusted business.

- **Requirement:** All US businesses and Canadian businesses texting US numbers must comply.
- **How We Help:** Kenect simplifies this mandatory process by guiding you through each step of registration. While other texting services may leave businesses to navigate these requirements alone, we work directly with you to ensure a smooth and compliant setup.

> ℹ️ **Important Note: **Canadian businesses who do not wish to text U.S. based numbers are not required to register. As a result, messages delivered to U.S. numbers would not be successful.

> ℹ️ # How Can I Complete Compliance Requirements?

This section will guide you, step-by-step, on how to fulfill compliance requirements through A2P 10DLC with Kenect.

> ℹ️ ## Step 1: Provide Your Business Information

When initially setting up your account, please ensure the following details are accurate and provided to our **Technical Setup** team to avoid delays. If you’ve already provided these details, you can sip to **Step 2**.

- **Tax EIN** (Employer Identification Number).
 - **Canadian Businesses:** BN-9 (Business Number).
- **Legal Company Name & Address**: Must match IRS or CRA records exactly.
- **Legal Owner:** Name, Email, Phone, Website
 - **DBA** should be provided if applicable.

> ℹ️ If you need help finding your business' Tax EIN, check federal tax returns, W-9, business licenses/permits, bank account statements, loan applications, or payroll documents (e.g., 1099s).

> ℹ️ ## Step 2: Update Your Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policy on Website

Mobile carriers now require businesses to have a** separate **Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions that are publicly available on their website before texting can be approved. If you do not have any or either of these currently, you will **need to create one**. We strongly recommend placing each page link in your website footer where they are easy to find.

> ℹ️ ## FAQs

**Q: What is A2P 10DLC and why does it matter?**
*A: A2P (Application-to-Person) 10DLC is the messaging standard mobile carriers require for businesses that send text messages using local phone numbers. It improves delivery rates, enhances trust, and protects customers from spam by requiring businesses to register who they are and what they’re sending.*

**Q: Who needs to register for A2P 10DLC compliance?**
*A:* *Any business that texts customers using a local number in the U.S. or sends messages to U.S. numbers must register. This includes Canadian businesses texting U.S. recipients. Kenect handles the registration for you, but your business must provide the necessary information and follow compliance guidelines.*

**Q: What’s the difference between A2P 10DLC and a Toll-Free Number?**
*A: A2P 10DLC uses local 10-digit numbers for messaging, while Toll-Free Numbers are 800/888-style numbers. Both require registration, but the process and data requirements differ slightly. Kenect supports registration for both types.*

**Q: What’s required to register a Toll-Free Number?**
*A: You'll need to submit complete and accurate business information including your address, website (with HTTPS security), use cases, and how you'll obtain customer consent. This data must match your website and be clearly documented to avoid rejections.*

- *Please contact ****Kenect Technical Support ****if you have any additional questions or concerns with this.*

**Q: How do I collect SMS opt-in from customers?**
*A: Customers must give clear, voluntary consent to receive texts. This can be collected via online forms, in-person paperwork, or systems like Kenect that allow you to log consent manually, send opt-in requests, or track it through DMS integrations.*
