#   **FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)**

- **Why are automatic messages not being sent?**
  - Please confirm that the contact is associated with a matter  
In order to have automated messages sent, the matter needs to be associated with the contact in the partner system. To confirm that, simply open the contact page on Smokeball and navigate to the 'Matters' tab and confirm the reported matter is showing there.
  - Important note: the contact needs to be associated with the matter during its creation. Associating an existing matter (after the first save) to a contact will make the case pending event to fire, instead of the case opened
